Causapscal is located in Gaspésie. Not on the seashore, like being part of the Gaspe Peninsula usually implies, but right in the middle of a country made of mountains and rivers. This town is one of the most picturesque of the peninsula. It is there that the Matapedia Valley finds its most emblematic incarnation as a blend of human settlement and natural landscape.

Graced by two salmon rivers, famous worldwide among fishermen, Causapscal spreads on the slopes of the Notre-Dame mountains, part of the Appalachian Range. The environing boreal forest is composed of a mix of coniferous and leafy trees. The abundant spruce is a contrasting backdrop for the fall colours which intensifies the reds, oranges and yellows. The landscape is bathing in a crystal pure light. The ever changing sky is a very profound blue.

This site is about this exaltation of colour and light. Causapscal is a subject of choice for a photographic portrait. The very contrasted seasons make for a never ending palette of tints and visual stimulation.

These photographs were taken during the course of the last three years. The subjects covered are: the wilderness, the implantation of the magnificent church and some floral gems from causapscalian gardens. In the future, all sections will continue to evolve. Don’t forget to bookmark this page!
